American University Educational Games

Game Design • Educational • American University

My friends over at Chicago video production agency Demo Duck were working on a big campaign for an American University group called DUCC (Developing and Understanding Critical Comprehension). The group's aim was to develop curriculum to help children in grades 1 through 4 understand media literacy and critical thinking about news consumption.

As part of the project, they wanted to develop a pair of interactive games to go with their original animated videos and brought me on to help architect and build these short experiences.

While I'd spent many years writing and designing interactive software, I usually work with engineers to do the build...but a few years of technical osmosis, combined with my knowledge of game engines from personal projects, allowed me to take the plunge and contribute to a project for a great cause.

Built in my favorite little engine, Construct 3.
